Town Council
Tywyn Town Council is an elected statutory body established in 1894 by the Parish Councils Act. The Town Council operates at the most local level of government and represents the interests of the local community. Tywyn Town Council is committed to improving the quality of life for both residents and visitors and works hard to provide better services for Tywyn.
The responsibilities of Tywyn Town Council include the management and maintenance of local amenities and facilities such as the skatepark, the recreation ground and the memorial park. The Town Council may also be involved in local planning matters, commenting on planning applications within the town’s jurisdiction. Additionally, the Town Council may organise or support local events, organisations and initiatives to enhance the community’s well-being.
Tywyn Town Council meets regularly to discuss and make decisions on matters affecting Tywyn. These meetings are open to the public, allowing residents to attend and express their views or concerns. The Town Council also encourages community engagement and may seek feedback or input from residents on various issues.
Tywyn Town Council operates a Committee structure to better organise its responsibilities and governance. Details about the Committees, their membership and responsibilities can be found in the drop down Menu towards the top of the page.
